COVID-19: Saudi Arabia announces 1,759 new coronavirus cases, 27 deaths

Over 64,000 tests conducted, recovery rate rises to 83.85 per cent

Dubai: Saudi Arabia today reported 1,759 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the kingdom to 272,590, a significant decline for the fourth consecutive day.

The Ministry of Health also announced that 27 more people died due to complications caused by COVID-19, taking the mortality tally to 2,816. The new cases were detected after the ministry conducted more than 64,000 PCR tests over the past 24 hours.

The ministry revealed that 2,945 infected people have made full recovery from the virus, shooting up the total recovered cases to 228,569. With the increasing number of recoveries, the recovery rate has risen to 83.85 per cent.

There are still 41,205 active cases, including 2,063 critical patients under intensive care.

Hofuf registered the highest daily reported cases with 160, followed by Mecca with 122, and Riyadh with 108.
