COVID-19: Oman reports 1,210 cases, 9 deaths

Latest cases bring infection tally to 50,207, fatalities to 233

Cairo: Oman Wednesday reported 1,210 new cases of the novel coronavirus, raising the country's overall infections to 50,207, as the country is experiencing an upward curve.

The newly diagnosed cases include 939 Omanis and 271 foreign residents, the Health Ministry said, according to the Omani news agency ONA.

The ministry also announced nine new deaths from COVID-19, bringing Oman's total such fatalities to 233.

The country's overall recoveries from the disease have reached 32,005, an increase of 1,005 against the tally reported the day before, the ministry's update showed.

On Tuesday, supreme committee in charge of tackling COVID-19 has vowed tougher penalties against violators of precautions to stem the virus spread. The panel has threatened to publish names and photos of violators in the media in an effort to oblige compliance with measures in place to control the highly contagious disease.
