COVID-19: Kuwait reports 829 new cases and 5 deaths

Total number of infections at 96,301, 506 patients make full recovery

Dubai: The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health announced 829 new coronavirus infections, raising the total to 96,301 while 5 deaths were reported raising the number fatalities to 568.

The figures include people who have had sustained contact with infected individuals and others whose source of infection is being investigated, according to ministry spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad.

In terms of areas, Hawally governorate recorded the main share of cases with 189 infections, followed by Ahmadi (165), Capital (121), Farwaniya (157) and Al Jahra (76), according to government figures.

The number of people hospitalized with the virus stands at 9,408; 86 of whom are in intensive care units, the data showed, revealing that 3,928 tests were conducted in the past day out of a total of 679,670.

Some 506 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours to raise the total to 85,501, added the spokesman. Urging the public to be mindful of health precautions, he said following social distancing rules was the only way to ward off the coronavirus.
