COVID-19: Kuwait records 723 new cases, 8 fatalities

Latest coronavirus cases take total to 30,644 infections, 244 deaths

Cairo: Kuwait has confirmed 723 new cases of the novel coronavirus over the past 24 hours, taking the country's infection tally to 30,664, the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA reported Friday.

The Health Ministry also announced eight more deaths from COVID-19, raising the total such fatalities in the country to 244.

All the new cases were in touch with previously infected people or are being investigated for sources of infection, the Health Ministry's spokesman Dr Abdullah Al Sanad said in a daily update.

There are 197 patients receiving intensive care treatment, the official added.

The number of COVID-19 tests conducted so far in Kuwait has totalled 308,900, according to Dr Al Sanad.

The Health Ministry reported that 1,054 more patients have recovered from the disease over the past 24 hours, bringing to 18,277 the total of such recoveries in the country.
