Pakistan: Girl’s video clip of harassers helps police nab one in Karachi
Karachi: A daring act of a girl in a rickshaw, who filmed a group of young harassers on motorcycles on a busy thoroughfare of Karachi, has led to the arrest of one of the culprits involved in the immoral activity.
The incident occurred on the Shahrah-e-Faisal road in the city.
The unscrupulous motorcyclists constantly chased the rickshaw, whistling and laughing at the girl, and using obnoxious hand gestures during the ride.
Unable to face constant intimidation, the girl uses her mobile phone to film the anti-social elements. On seeing that they are being filmed, the youth disappear for some time in the video.
However, after a short while, the mischief-makers come close to the rickshaw and try to stop it by force. The boys kick the rickshaw while one of the main accused asks the girl as to why she is filming them. One of the boys also threatens the girl. Undeterred, the rickshaw driver also continues with the journey until the Drigh Road intersection, when the motorcycle riders speed away from the scene.
The harassers were not wearing helmets which is compulsory for a motorcycle rider on the Shahrah-e-Faisal road.
The girl uploaded the video clip on the social media and sought stern action against the anti-social elements.
Alerted by the vidoe clip, the District East Police in Karachi arrested one of the accused involved in the incident. The police identified the culprit as 21-year-old Hamza Mughal. The video clip, which went viral on social media helped the police to identify and catch the accused. The police also used the closed-circuit television cameras installed on the road to read the registration number plate of the motorcycle used by the accused. The police said that its search is on to catch the other accomplices of Hamza.
