Sharjah: A missing eight-year-old Indian boy, S.S, was found dead in a neighbour’s car in Al Nassiryah area following an “extensive” search for him, police said on Sunday.

The boy’s family had lodged a missing person’s report with Al Gharb police station earlier in the day.

The search led to a neighbour’s car where the boy was found dead. The car belonged to a woman, police said.

The woman was shocked to see the boy motionless in her car and contacted the police.

The police operation room immediately sent a patrol and ambulance. The body was moved to the forensic laboratory for autopsy.

The General Command of Sharjah Police referred the case to the Public Prosecution in Sharjah.

Initial investigations indicate that the child entered the unlocked vehicle while he was playing and was unable to get out after closing the door. The boy is said to have died as a result of high temperature and suffocation. The forensic laboratory indicated that there is no criminal suspicion in the incident.

Sharjah Police expressed its deepest condolences to the child’s family and stressed the importance of parents being alert around their children to avoid such accidents. They urged residents to lock the doors of vehicles.
