Moviegoers to sit in comfort of own cars and watch films played on large screen

Cairo: Residents in Saudi Arabia will soon have the chance to enjoy watching the latest film releases as the country nurtures a new entertainment industry.
The “Street Cinema” will be unveiled this evening in Abha, the capital of Asir in the south-west of the kingdom as part of the 2020 Summer Asir Festival.

A selection of international films will be shown during the festival and interested parties are requested to reserve spaces online, according to the Asir municipality.
The organizer said it has picked high-rated family films catering to the tastes of everyone.
The festival is co-organised by the Asir municipality and the Tourism Ministry.
In April 2018, Saudi Arabia reopened cinemas for the first time in over 35 years, as part of the kingdom’s efforts to promote its entertainment activities and diversify its oil-dependent economy.
