Meet the new Pakistan Idol: Hira Qaiser wins 2026 title

Dubai: Faisalabad’s Hira Qaiser is the new Pakistan Idol, winning the 2026 title and a cash prize of Rs1.5 million after an emotional and star-studded grand finale on Sunday night.

The singer, who comes from a middle-class family, won over viewers and judges throughout the competition with her powerful vocals, emotional performances and growing stage confidence.

Hira’s victory became an especially moving moment when she walked onto the stage carrying her baby boy to receive the Pakistan Idol shield from host Shafaat Ali. Tears filled her eyes as confetti fell around her and fellow contestants, judges and performers rushed to congratulate the newly crowned winner, Geo News reported.

“I have no words. I want to say my heartfelt thanks to Pakistan Idol. I am very, very happy,” Hira said after receiving the award.

Hira credited her achievement to her parents’ and family’s prayers.

“My family’s prayers played a very important role in my success. Now I will fulfil all my dreams,” she said.

From Faisalabad to the Pakistan Idol crown

Hira’s final performance featured a song by Mekaal Hasan, earning an encouraging response from Pakistani icon Atif Aslam and the judging panel.

Her journey to the title saw her compete against singers from across the country, eventually emerging as the season’s standout performer.

Other finalists

The other finalists included Maham Tahir from Khanpur, Waqar Hussain and Tarab Nafees from Karachi, Samya Gohar from Lahore, and Aryan Naveed Bhatti from Dera Ghazi Khan. The remaining finalists received shields and cash prizes of Rs500,000 each.

Pakistan Idol

Pakistan Idol is the local version of the globally popular Idols singing franchise, the format behind shows including American Idol. Pakistan first launched the show in 2013, with its inaugural season producing singer Zamad Baig as the winner.

After a lengthy break, the show returned with a new generation of aspiring singers and a high-profile judging panel featuring Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Atif Aslam, Fawad Khan, Bilal Maqsood and Zeb Bangash.

The revival has provided a national platform for emerging vocalists, bringing contestants from cities and towns across Pakistan into the spotlight and giving audiences a chance to discover new musical talent.

A star-studded super finale

The finale was billed as a “Super Finale” and featured performances from some of Pakistan’s biggest music names.

Atif Aslam, appearing as the evening’s special “Super Icon”, was among the biggest attractions, while famous singers Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Bilal Maqsood and Zeb Bangash also performed.

The finale was screened at cinemas in Karachi and Faisalabad, allowing fans to experience the crowning moment beyond the television screen.

Producer Badr Ikram said the team had worked hard to find the “voice of Pakistan” and announced that Pakistan Idol Season 3 would be coming soon.
