The changing conditions are in line with the National Centre of Meteorology’s forecast, which called for fair to partly cloudy weather with a chance of convective clouds forming over eastern and southern areas and producing rainfall during the afternoon.

Winds are expected to be light to moderate but could become fresh to strong around cloud formations. Speeds could reach 40km/h in coastal areas and 45km/h inland and over the mountains.

Temperatures could reach 47°C in internal areas, while maximums are forecast at between 37°C and 42°C along the coast and islands and between 33°C and 37°C in mountainous areas.

Humidity is expected to increase overnight and into Saturday morning over some western areas, bringing a possibility of fog or mist.

Will it rain this weekend?

The possibility of rain will continue into the weekend, although conditions are expected to vary by region.

On Saturday, August 22, skies will be fair to partly cloudy, with a chance of convective clouds developing over eastern and southern areas and bringing afternoon rainfall. Temperatures are expected to rise gradually, while winds could reach 40km/h.

By Sunday, August 23, conditions are forecast to remain fair to partly cloudy, with clouds developing over eastern areas during the afternoon. The NCM forecast does not specifically indicate rainfall for Sunday. Winds could reach 35km/h.

The unsettled pattern could return early next week. Clouds developing in eastern areas on Monday may become convective during the afternoon, while Tuesday brings another probability of rainfall associated with convective clouds in the east.

The Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea are expected to remain slight through the weekend.
