Khor Fakkan:– A tragic traffic accident on Monday evening in Khor Fakkan claimed the lives of a 41-year-old Emirati man and his seven-month-old son, while two others sustained injuries ranging from moderate to serious.

Sharjah Police said the crash involved two vehicles and was caused by excessive speed and sudden swerving by one of the drivers. Emergency teams responded immediately, arriving at the scene at record speed to assist the victims. Authorities extended their deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a full and speedy recovery to the injured.

Colonel Dr. Walid Khamees Al Yamahi, Director of the Eastern Region Police Department, explained that the operations room received the accident report at 8:55 pm “Police patrols, civil defence, and national ambulance teams rushed to the site. The injured were quickly assisted and transported to the hospital for urgent care,” he said.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver of the vehicle responsible for the accident lost control due to excessive speed and sudden swerving. The car crossed the median barrier and collided with an oncoming vehicle, causing it to overturn.

The crash resulted in the death of the father and his infant son, who succumbed to injuries following surgery. The mother sustained serious injuries, while the driver of the other vehicle involved suffered moderate injuries.

Sharjah Police urged drivers to adhere to speed limits, remain alert—especially on curves—and avoid distractions like mobile phones, stressing that following traffic rules is essential to protect their lives and the lives of others on the road.
