Dubai: Former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s passion for automobiles is no secret — nor is his deep-rooted connection with the Indian Army. In a unique fusion of these two interests, Dhoni recently gave his iconic Hummer H2 a striking makeover inspired by the armed forces.
Videos circulating on social media showcase the revamped SUV adorned with dramatic artwork featuring fighter jets, tanks, aircraft, and Indian soldiers in action — a moving tribute to the nation’s military might.
The transformation was carried out by a Ranchi-based car detailing studio. The studio’s founder, Achyut Kishore, revealed that Dhoni had personally requested the army-themed customization, which has now been brought to life with meticulous detail.
Dhoni acquired the Hummer H2 in 2009 from American automaker General Motors, and the powerful SUV has remained one of the most prized vehicles in his extensive collection.
His reverence for the armed forces is well-documented. In 2011, he was awarded the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army. He has trained with the elite Para Special Forces and has even completed parachute jumps, underscoring his genuine commitment beyond ceremonial ties.
Dhoni often credits the military’s discipline and valor as a source of inspiration. During the 2019 ICC World Cup, he famously wore gloves bearing the ‘Balidaan Badge,’ the insignia of the Para SF, as a gesture of respect and solidarity with the armed forces.
As an avid auto enthusiast, Dhoni’s garage is a car lover’s dream, featuring everything from high-performance machines to classic military vehicles. Highlights include the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG, and a vintage Nissan Jonga. But it’s the Hummer H2 — now with its bold military-themed makeover — that stands out as a symbol of both power and patriotism.
Most recently, Dhoni was also spotted behind the wheel of the newly launched Citroën Basalt Dark Edition in Ranchi. As the brand ambassador for the French automaker, his appearance in the sleek black SUV hints at the latest addition to his enviable fleet.
