Dubai: If you are returning to the UAE after the summer break, travelling frequently, or visiting for the first time, you can expect busy airports and long immigration queues. With a little preparation, however, you can speed up the process and save time at the border.

For first-time visitors arriving in Abu Dhabi

If you are arriving through Zayed International Airport for the first time, you can try the UAE Fast Track app by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP).

This app lets you pre-register your passport, arrival details, and biometric data, reducing your immigration process time. Through pre-registration, you can complete travel procedures in seconds without waiting at registration counters, using the airport’s smart gates.

How the ‘UAE Fast Track’ app works

The app includes advanced features such as capturing fingerprints using your phone’s camera. Here’s the process:

  • Select your entry route – Choose whether you are arriving via air, land, or sea.

  • Select your entry point – Pick the specific port and date of arrival.

  • Scan your travel document – Use your smartphone camera to capture a clear image of your passport page.

  • Capture a face image – Take a photo of your face using your smartphone camera.

  • Capture fingerprints – Place the fingers of your right hand in front of the camera, followed by your left hand, ensuring the best image quality.

  • Provide additional details – Enter your email, mobile number, local address, and profession.

UAE residents can use Smart Gates at Dubai International Airport and biometric eGates at most major airports, including Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi.
