Dubai: If your child relies on Dubai Metro, public buses or other RTA transport, keeping track of their nol card balance has just become much easier. The nol Pay app, the official platform for managing Dubai’s public transport card has recently been upgraded with new digital features, including family card management, allowing parents to monitor and top up their children’s cards directly.

How parents can link and manage their child’s nol card

Using the nol Pay app, parents can now easily manage a personalised or active student nol card. Here’s how to set it up:

  1. Download and open the nol Pay app, then log in using UAE Pass.

  2. On the homepage, select ‘Family Card Management’.

  3. Enter the child’s nol tag ID or scan the card.

  4. Confirm the linking.
Since the app is tied to UAE Pass, the card will automatically connect to the parent’s verified details.

Once linked, parents can view their child’s balance, top up instantly, renew the card when nearing expiry, and keep an eye on usage — all from their phone.

nol cards now act as payment cards and more

Many parents already know that the nol card isn’t just for paying public transport fares. It can also be used for everyday purchases such as buying meals, groceries, or shopping at Zoom convenience stores across the Metro network.

For students, the benefits go even further. A personalised student nol card offers:

  • 50 per cent discount on Metro, tram and bus fares

  • Access to global student benefits through the nol ISIC card, which acts as an international student identity card

With ISIC integration, students can unlock exclusive discounts across 130+ countries, including special flight fares, retail offers and lifestyle perks.

Because the card works like a payment tool, many parents understandably want oversight, ensuring their child always has enough balance and preventing misuse. The new family management feature delivers exactly that.

‘Study in Dubai – nol ISIC’ card: New perks for students

One of the most notable upgrades comes from a partnership between RTA and KHDA. Together, they are introducing the “Study in Dubai – nol ISIC” card. This enhanced student card combines:

  • A verified student ID

  • A digital payment card

  • Global ISIC privileges

  • 50% discounted transport fares across the UAE

It offers lifestyle discounts, education-related benefits and international offers in 130+ countries - making it one of the most comprehensive student cards in Dubai.

A fully upgraded nol system now live

Earlier this year, RTA announced it is finalising the modernisation of the nol card ecosystem. The new system allows users to create accounts, link family cards, set top-up limits, enable auto-recharge, view detailed transaction statements and even suspend a lost card.

Those upgrades are now officially live through the revamped nol Pay app, bringing Dubai a step closer to becoming a fully cashless city.

What’s new in the nol Pay app?

The redesigned nol Pay app now enables users to:

  • Tap and pay instantly for all RTA transport

  • Top up cards and check balances in real time

  • Buy travel passes on the go

  • Shop and pay at partner outlets

  • Earn exclusive rewards through a loyalty account

  • Apply for and manage children’s nol cards

  • Seamlessly integrate with KHDA, SANAD, GDRFA and UAE Pass

  • Receive email/SMS alerts for low balances or renewals

These improvements benefit all categories of users, including students, senior citizens and People of Determination.
