Omani arrested for attempting to marry minor in India
Four Omanis were caught last week trying to marry minors but were allowed to return home
Muscat: A 37-year-old Omani man from Barka province has been arrested in India for allegedly trying to marry a minor.
The accused was arrested in Hyderabad on Monday.
A marriage broker convinced the Omani to marry the girl, which is a crime in India.
The Omani consultate general in Mumbai told Gulf News that the man would be provided with a lawyer by the ministry of foreign affairs.
Four Omanis have been caught since last week trying to marry minors in India, but they have all managed to return home.
A 70-year-old Omani was arrested in Hyderabad last April for allegedly marrying a minor.
Over the past two years, four Omani nationals have been jailed for various offenses but later released.
