Muscat: Wang Yi, State Counsellor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, is on an official visit to Oman.

The Chinese delegation on arrival yesterday was received by Dr. Khaled bin Saeed Al Jaradi, Head of the Protocol Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The delegation had a meeting today with the Lieutenant General Sultan bin Muhammad Al Nu’mani, Minister of the Royal Office, Oman. A number of areas of joint cooperation and ways to develop them were reviewed apart from various other issues of mutual interest. The meeting was also attended by Li Lingping, Chinese Ambassador to the Sultanate.

Another important meeting was with Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Oman’s Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs, who today received Wang Yi and his accompanying delegation.

Historical relations

The two sides discussed about the expanding historical bilateral relations between Oman and China, and ways to enhance cooperation between them in all fields were reviewed. Other current issues and developments on the regional and international arenas were also discussed.

Wang affirmed China’s appreciation to Oman in supporting international peace and harmony. The meeting was attended by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chinese Ambassador to Oman Li Lingping from the Chinese side.
