Dubai: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has warned his ministers that those who fail to come to work and deliver will not remain in their positions.

During a ceremony held yesterday to mark the completion of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s 100 days in office, Khan was present to speak to the ministers and officials attending. He thanked the people for re-electing his party this year. However, he also reiterated that all ministers had to be at work every day, without fail.

He said: “All of you should go to work every day and stay there till the evening. I will know who doesn’t go to work. And then no one should complain that they are not a minister anymore.”

Khan further stated: “When you get up in the evening, ask yourself if you’ve made any policy that day, which will help the underprivileged.”

While he spoke about other issues at this event, a clip of him warning the officials is being shared by tweeps in the country, who support his decision to let go off people who are not focused, and also being reported by Pakistani news outlets.

Tweep @SorayaAziz shared a clip of Khan’s warning and wrote: “PM Imran Khan warns his ministers to ensure they attend office daily and remain there until the evening. Love the way, he goes into teacher mode, reminding all ministers to play their role in making a difference in the lives of those in need.”

@drmsqureshi tweeted: “Appreciated. However, simply presence of the ministers in their offices would not help in overcoming the burning issues faced by the people. Much has to be done to overhaul the stereotyped system.”

Tweep @aliqasim posted: “Great speech by PM Imran Khan.”

@khanofleeds tweeted: “No previous PM engaged with his team of MPs or the people of the country like this. Imran Khan is a true reformist and a patriot.”

Tweep @MahmoodK69 added: “I hope he gives the same warning to ministers in Punjab as well.”

Some tweeps even highlighted issues they had come across in the country.

Tweep @ZK_Pakistan wrote: “@ImranKhanPTI most of your ministers are letting you down sir. A strange arrogance is found in them. Most are only showing the twitter performance. Nothing else. Khan sahaab (Mr Khan) you worked hard for this opportunity, don’t let them take it away.”

@FaheemKhan_Here tweeted: “@ImranKhanPTI Kindly warn the higher rank officers as well. They are coming to their offices at 11am or 12pm or sometimes at 2pm. @fawadchaudhry @PTIofficial @PTIKPOfficial”
