Dubai: The Ministry of Education has announced that 105 out of 277 public schools inspected during the 2013-14 academic year will receive academic accreditation.
The ministry said the schools will receive the accreditation after meeting the standards set by the ministry under the directives of Minister of Education Hussain Bin Ebrahim Al Hammadi
Jameela Al Muhairi, Director of the Public Schools Guidance and Monitoring Department at the ministry, said 277 public schools out of 417 schools underwent inspections, which is 66 per cent from the total number of schools. She said 105 public schools or 38 per cent have met standards.
She said the inspectors found that the highest improvement was in the student development and performance category with 96 per cent. Education and teaching quality came second with 94.9 per cent. School leadership (90.2 per cent), quality of education environment (66.7 per cent), personal student development (66.4 per cent) and school community (59.5 per cent) followed respectively.
Jameela said the schools inspected that did not meet standards have been put into three categories and will be inspected again.
She said the inspection results will have a great role in the improvement of the education sector in schools and, based on the results, recommendations will be made and workshops held.
