The hackers will always be “one step ahead” of the race and the cat and mouse game will continue, Francois Locoh-Donou, president and CEO of F5 Networks said.
“The innovation in security moves very quickly. Twenty years ago, hackers use to be teenagers trying to make an income. Now, it is a commercial enterprise, organised crime, nation or state. Because the number of resources and the sophistication of the resources is now involved in hacking has grown tremendously,” he said.
The attack surface is growing, more the company becomes digital, he said the bigger is the attack surface to protect.
There is always an opportunity for the advisory to be ahead of whatever we put in place. Going forward, he said that there will be a lot of focus on protecting assets but there will be a lot of focus on threat detection.
“A lot of CIOs will tell you that even if they invest a lot of money in protecting their assets, they operate and accept that they will be breached. The effort is going into finding out how quickly I have been breached and resolving or being able to expel faster those advisories in the environment to minimise the damage,” he said.
