Dubai: Ben McGregor scored a fine hat-trick to help Layla Polo secure a hard-fought 6-4.5 win against the First Angels and clinch the La Martina Argentina Polo Cup at the Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club on Friday.

With Layla Polo team scoring four goals, young Habtoor Al Habtoor also showed his pedigree and class after scoring twice to stand tall among the professionals.

Played before a huge holiday crowd at the Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club, McGregor did well to keep his fine form in the tournament with three quick goals.

However, it was the enthusiastic hard work from Al Habtoor that made the difference when he added two goals of his own.

The First Angels fought gamely and the experienced Tom Morris Lowe found the goal on two occasions even as Helen Tatham scored one goal and Niels Van Bassbank wrapped things up with a goal of his own to fall just short of Layla Polo.

Earlier on, the Dubai Falcons secured a 6.5-4 win against The Dark Horse to take third place in the competition.
