Abu Dhabi: The board of directors of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation expressed their deepest thanks and appreciation to General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, in recognition and appreciation for his unlimited generosity and support for sports in general and Jiu-Jitsu in particular.

This came during a meeting held yesterday under the chairmanship of Abdul Moneim Al Hashemi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and attended by a number of the board’s members.

On December 4, General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed ordered the setting up of jiu-jitsu clubs and training centres nationwide to provide facilities for practitioners.

He also issued instructions to sponsor distinguished jiu-jitsu players, and for the private and public sectors to contribute in supporting them so that they can excel and represent the country in championships. The directives include the sponsorship of talented players at schools and universities so that they can continue studying while pursuing their sporting dreams.

Jiu-jitsu is a martial art and combat sport, focused on ground grappling, and is commonly used in mixed martial arts competitions.
