Don't throw money away on expensive golf balls you will lose Image Credit: Virendra Saklani/Gulf News

Once you’ve got yourself a set of clubs, you will obviously also require some balls — after all, they are the key component.

Because every time you play a round — or even when you hit the range — you will need more than a few of those little white things to hit.

So here goes. Initially just get yourself some basic golf balls as they can be costly and you will lose more than a few. Once you are in the groove and have scared a few people on the range, you may get a feel of what is for you — be it a Callaway, Titleist or Dunlop. But do not jump too early.

Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that you need to have expensive golf balls to help you play the game better, you don’t.

Chances are you’re going to say goodbye to most of them very soon (even advanced players lose balls) and your focus should be on finding an affordable and playable ball that will suit your needs early in your game’s development. You can get a set of six decent balls for around Dh60.
