Abu Dhabi: UAE national team star Omar Abdul Rahman and Brazilian, Grafite, of Al Ahli, were the big winners at the 2012-2013 football season awards held by the UAE Pro-League Committee (PLC) on Sunday night at Adnec.

Abdul Rahman bagged two awards, the Fans’ Player of the Year and Emirati Player of the Year, while Grafite won the International Player of Year accolade ahead of Aaamoah Gyan of Al Ain, who won the top scorer trophy for netting 31 goals.

“To be with the top players in the season, even without winning the trophy is good because it is recognition of my hard work through the season,” Abdul Rahman said. “It is also an honour for all my colleagues who helped me to win these titles and I am indebted to them.”

Grafite said: “I am happy to win my award because it is a reward for all the players in Al Ahli.

“It was good to be with the top players and in fact there were so many good players this season, so this trophy should be given to all of them.”
