Vigo: Midfielder Sofiane Boufal said his shift to Celta Vigo will make his “dream” of playing in La Liga come true.
The French-born Moroccan international joins Celta on loan from English Premier League side Southampton, where he scored four goals in 59 appearances over two seasons.
“While this past year has not been good for me in England, I also see myself as capable of winning in the Premier League,” Boufal said during his presentation as a Celta player here on Monday.
“But I think that the Spanish League better adapts to my characteristics. Here, football is more technical,” he added.
The midfielder acknowledged that the fact that his friend Claudio Beauvue is also in the roster, was a factor in his decision to accept Celta’s offer.
I am a big La Liga fan and watch a lot of games,” he said. “I like Celta’s style. It’s a very attack-oriented team, which likes to have possession of the ball. It’s a (type of) football that matches my style.”
