Dubai: David Morgan, the president of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Giles Clarke, chairman of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), will not be able to attend the two-day International Cricket Council board meeting from tomorrow.

"Our president Morgan and Clarke of ECB have not been able to make it to the meeting so far because of the disruption to air travel but they will join the appropriate meetings by video conference," an ICC spokesperson told Gulf News.

Many flights to and from Dubai has been cancelled owing to a cloud of ash spewed by a volcano in Iceland.

However, members from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have already arrived for the board meeting, which is the second of the four scheduled meetings of the year.

One of the important issues to be discussed during the meeting is the recommendation of the group to consider a proposed move of the ICC headquarters from Dubai back to Lord's cricket ground in London.

Another important decision that will come for discussion is the nomination of the ICC vice-president's post.

Australia and New Zealand have proposed that John Howard's nomination for the post of ICC vice-president from 2010-12 and therefore as the next president of the ICC from 2012 to 2014.

Alternative venue

The executive board will also consider an alternative venue for the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2012 in the light of Cricket Canada's decision to step down as host for the event after recognising that it would be unable to bring the cricketing facilities up to required standards in time for such the event.

The new future tours programme for the ICC from 2012 to 2020 will also be discussed.

The board will continue the discussion on the context and content of international cricket.
