Dubai: With the long school break for summer just over a month away, you may already be planning your family’s flight tickets and travel itinerary. However, if you are wondering when Eid Al Adha holidays are expected to fall, Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), has provided parents with some advice.

In a post on its official Twitter account earlier this week, KHDA said: “Parents should refer to their school’s approved academic calendar for details on the end of the academic year. Dates for Eid Al Adha holidays will be announced by the federal government.”

How can I find my child’s approved school calendar?

If your child studies in a school in Dubai, you can simply visit the KHDA website to get a copy of the academic calendar.

Here is how you can access your child’s school calendar through the website:

1. Visit the KHDA website –
2. Tap on ‘Find Education Institutions’ on the menu on the right side of the screen.
3. This will take you to the school directory of KHDA, where you can select the school from the list to view their academic calendar.

The UAE Cabinet’s announcement on the official list of public holidays for 2023 includes a one-day holiday for Arafat Day and a three-day holiday for Eid Al Adha.

These days fall in the Hijri month of Dhul Hijjah – with Arafat Day on the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah and Eid Al Adha being marked from 10th of Dhul Hijjah to 12th of Dhul Hijjah. The exact dates of public holiday will be announced after the sighting of the crescent moon for the month of Dhul Hijjah.
