Dubai: A set of newborn triplets in Dubai are home from hospital just in time for Christmas, proud new parents said on Wednesday.
Shimod Joseph and Limenz Matthew, Indian expatriates in Dubai, say they are blessed with their bundles of joy — Sarah, Emmanuel and Maria — each born two minutes apart at the Aster Hospital.
The babies were born on November 18 at 34-weeks and kept under observation in the Neo Natal Intensive Care Unit for a few weeks and have now come home in time for the festivities.
Dr. Venkiteswaran Ramanathan, medical director and consultant in paediatrics neonatology, with obstetrics-gynaecology specialist Dr Indira Venkatraman and her team were absolutely thrilled to welcome the babies into the world.
Parents Shimod and Limenz said triplets and quadruplets run in their extended family.
Speaking exclusively to Gulf News, the excited new father said: “We are absolutely delighted and relieved as Limenz had a delicate 34 weeks carrying the triplets. We knew about the good news within three months of pregnancy.”
“Due to the high risk involved with the pregnancy, we had to ensure the delivery was a team effort between me and my wife, our parents and of course, the hospital staff. We were treated especially well and we thank them for that,” Joseph said.
The new dad said he was “so happy that mother and my babies are home and doing so well. Our parents are here for Christmas on this very joyous occasion to share our happiness. Our family is complete.”
The family is on the lookout for an expert nanny once their parents return to India, to help them take care of the babies. Limenz, who was working earlier, has resigned to look after the bundles of joy.
For Dr Venkatraman the babies were given fragile and comprehensive care they required.
