Stop littering! People leave trash bags next to an overflowing trash bin in Dubai’s Karama area. Litter is also thrown on the road and pavement despite there being an empty trash can a few steps away.

Dubai

People leave rubbish on the roads, pavements or next to overflowing trash bins.

The first issue I came across was in the Karama area where a trash can was full and people kept leaving bags of trash next to it (as seen in photograph). Adjacent to this overflowing bin, there was a bigger bin that was empty. People just needed to walk a few extra steps to dispose of the trash properly. However, they refused to do so.

This is a sad sight to come across in our beautiful city. I request the concerned authorities to replace all the small bins with bigger ones and encourage people to refrain from continuing this practice as it can spread diseases. A lot of times stray cats have tried to tear open these bags, creating a bigger mess.

The other issue I have seen when going for a walk around the same area is of people throwing trash on the roads or pavements despite the fact that there is a trash can nearby. I was shocked to come across this scene (as seen in photograph). It seems that people are too lazy to throw the empty bottles, paper and other garbage in the bins that have been placed at the sides of the road. Would you throw trash in a similar manner at home? Of course not. We love to keep our homes clean and tidy, so we must do our part to keep our neighbourhood clean, too. The municipal authorities are doing their level best to keep the city beautiful. We can be of great help by doing our part.
