I was a customer of Dubai First and I had a credit card with them for a long time. Instead of paying massive annual fees without any benefits, I decided to cancel the card. I tried many times, but every time I would cancel it, every year, somehow they would waive my annual fee because I was not using the card.

A few months ago, my card expired. They sent me a renewed card without telling me about it. So I didn’t activate it and asked them to cancel it. But they are insisting that I pay the annual charge and then cancel. I refused to do so. Every month, they are sending me a monthly statement with delayed charges.

My request to Gulf News is to intervene in this matter and help me so that I will not have to pay for a credit card I have never used, and which has a high annual fee. Others are giving cards free for life.

From Mr Rajnikant Chauhan

The management of Dubai First responds:

At Dubai First, we are committed to provide the best of service to our card members and protect their interests. The grievance of Mr Chauhan was addressed immediately and the issue has been resolved to his satisfaction.

We thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Mr Chauhan responds:

I thank Gulf News for the help and intervention. The bank will not make the card free, although they did it every year for me, previously. I am paying annual fees as per their direction and closing this matter.
