Issue of clearance letter

First Gulf Bank (FGB) is putting me in a difficult situation, as they took my money and are not giving me a clearance letter.

I have had a credit card with them since 2012 and finally decided to close it, as they have been charging a lot on a monthly basis.

On February 2, 2015, I settled all the outstanding and they sent me a letter confirming it was accepted, yet they have been refusing to give me a clearance letter.

Every time I call, their number gets cut off. I also tried to call the collections department, but no one answers. One time, a representative answered and said it would take six months for the bank to issue a clearance letter.

I am thinking of buying a house in Dubai. I have closed this card and paid Dh56,000 in cash. I need my clearance to move forward. They have taken their dues, so why they are not delivering?

Please help me. According to the Central Bank’s records, they are still holding my cheque. I need to close this file and move on in my life. I am tired of calling the call centre with no support; it has now been more than two months.

Thank you Gulf News for this opportunity.

Mr Tarraf responds:

No one from the collection department of FGB has called me in this regard. I need FGB to send me the official hard copy of the clearance letter and close my card from their system and the Central Bank.
