Gulf News reader Bipin Mehta took this close-up shot of an orca, or killer whale. He said: “On a whale-watching trip in Washington, US, we followed these amazing, majestic and playful creatures at a distance, when one of them turned back and cut across the front of the ship right where I was on the deck!” Killer whales can grow up to nearly 10 metres and live between 50 to 80 years of age.
