Dubai: The Dubai Canvas Festival will bring together local, regional, and international artists from March 1 to 14 at Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR).
The festival’s second edition will be held by Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office, in partnership with JBR, as a step towards transforming Dubai into an open-air art museum that reflects the character and cultural diversity of the emirate.
The 2016 festival will feature over 60 works by 30 carefully selected artists from 14 countries. “The works of these artists will be exhibited in an area stretching over two kilometres within JBR in a way that encourages active public participation, engagement and interaction,” said Mona Al Merri, director-general of the Government of Dubai Media Office.
In addition to the artworks, the festival will feature many events on the sidelines, including custom-designed workshops and activities for different ages.
“Hosting the Dubai Canvas Festival will enable us to contribute to supporting the directive of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to transform Dubai into an open-air gallery,” said Arif Mubarak, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Properties’ Asset Management Arm under Dubai Properties Group.
Over the next few days, Brand Dubai will reveal further details of the festival, including the main agenda and the activities to be held on the sidelines of the event through dubaicalendar.ae.
