Court battle

The breakup of celebrity couple Raymart Santiago and Claudine Barretto took a turn for the worse as the actress filed a Temporary Protection Order in a local court against her husband for fear of being physically abused. The surprise legal maneuver shocked the industry as Santiago is a known gentleman. The actor fired back saying his now ex wife has a reputation for making up stories. Expect to see more dirty linen as the former lovebirds battle it out in court.

Dream move

JC de Vera signed a two-year contract with ABS CBN last week. The actor, who was originally a GMA talent who crossed over to TV5, is now officially a Kapamilya. At a press conference announcing the contract signing, de Vera said signing up with his new home studio was a dream come true. His first project will be a stint with the network’s top drama anthology, Maalaala Mo Kaya. He also announced that he has severed ties with his former handler, Annabelle Rama, and is now being managed by Leo Dominguez. Before he left GMA, de Vera was one of the hottest young actors around until he became collateral damage in the fight between his former manager, Rama, and an executive of the network that he used to work for.

Different ending

Beauty queen-turned-TV celebrity Venus Raj finally spoke to the media about her break up with Andre Felix. Raj revealed that she initiated the separation because the relationship has affected her family negatively. It turns out Raj entered into a relationship with Felix against the wishes of her family. For this reason, the dusky beauty queen had been incommunicado with the family for several months. Raj also said she has had to adjust her personality just to keep the relationship, but in the end was unhappy about her decision to do so. Before admitting to the break up, there were rumours of Raj being seen at bars with her now ex-boyfriend in a drinking binge. Raj denied these sightings.

Sad experience

De Castro admitted that she had a foreboding of how things would turn out when the producer failed to even pay for their tickets. She was advised not to go ahead but decided on travelling to Dubai anyway because the people she spoke with pleaded with her. She ended getting paid some amount, but vowed she would never deal with scrupulous producers in the future. She did say she enjoyed her stay in Dubai, but refused to talk at length about her unfortunate experience in the emirate.
