Abu Dhabi: A survey assessing recruitment through Jobs Abu Dhabi, an online recruitment system created by Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre (ADSIC), showed that Abu Dhabi witnessed a continuously increasing recruitment rate across all sectors as early as 2009.

Abu Dhabi's labour market, known to be very open and flexible, promotes the attraction and development of manpower that can meet local market needs.

The survey results were based on the responses of 42 per cent of companies and establishments registered on the Jobs website.

The public sector recruited 61 per cent of applicants through this website of whom 43 per cent were nationals.

The private sector absorbed 39 per cent of applicants of whom 20 per cent were nationals.

Success

The figures indicate that efforts that have been made to attract an increasing number of skilled workers and to encourage nationals to work in the private sector were successful.

Commenting on the results, Rashid Lahej Al Mansouri, ADSIC Director General, said, "Jobs Abu Dhabi is basically designated to activate [the] Abu Dhabi labour market, support ADGEs and NGOs in their recruitment-related efforts, and to improve the transparency of available jobs and eligible applicants. This initiative contributes to the realisation of Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 and enhances the economic and labour environment in order to create at the end sustainable and knowledge-based economy."

Jobs Abu Dhabi portal performs a significant role as it introduces thousands of job seekers to the employing entities in the emirate, and helps them obtain appropriate job opportunities in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region, so they can enjoy a sense of stability, continuity and security.

Moreover, the portal has become a world-wide platform for job seekers from more than 70 per cent of the world's countries.

Jobs Abu Dhabi also seeks to ensure the prosperity of the business sector (governmental and private) in the emirate — it encourages citizens and residents to enter the labour market, conducts comprehensive improvements to efficiency and service delivery and evaluates the actual needs of the labour market on a regular basis.
