Sharjah: Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) on Saturday signed an agreement with Sharjah's Hamriya Free Zone to build a Dh260-million facility to store oil products.

Adnoc has acquired 100,000 square metres of land in Hamriya close to the zone's main port to build 14 storage units. The storage units will have a total capacity of 18 million gallons.

The complex will be used to store seven types of products, including gasoline, diesel, fuel oil and jet fuel, Adnoc Distribution general manager Jamal Al Dharif said after signing the deal with Hamriya Free Zone board chairman Shaikh Khalid Bin Abdullah Al Qasimi.

The facility will serve as the main supply point for Adnoc service stations in Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and the central region.

Hamriya director-general Rashid Al Leem said it would one of the biggest components of the oil and gas section of the zone.

Work on the facility is expected to begin soon and its completion would take about two years.
