Abu Dhabi: Three Pakistani men have been arrested for attempting to steal money from an ATM in Medina, in the Hejaz region of western Saudi Arabia, police said.

The men, in their 20s and 30s, used a crowbar and hammer in a bid to force open the cash machine but failed, said Lieutenant Colonel Hussain Al Qahtani, spokesperson of the Medina police.

Police officers investigating the crime were able to arrest the men within hours of the attempted theft.

The suspects were found at their residence along with the tools used in the crime and the case was referred to the public prosecution, police said.
