Saudi Arabia: Ten arrested for attacking, stealing speed radars
Abu Dhabi: Ten people have been arrested for vandalising and stealing speed radars in Saudi Arabia.
Major Mohammed Al Ghamidi, spokesperson for Mecca Police, said two Saudi and eight Yemeni men in their 30s and 50s were found with a number of stolen items.
The country’s speed camera system has sparked the ire of many drivers, who have been forced to slow down to under 80kph in urban centres and 140kph on highways, or face hefty fines. Some have seemingly taken their rage out on the cameras themselves.
The men were moved to Public Prosecution for trial, police said.
