Saudi Arabia reports lowest COVID-19 cases and deaths in weeks

Coronavirus recovery rate exceeds 85.6% for first time in Kingdom

Dubai: Saudi Arabia has detected 1,573 new coronavirus cases, 1,890 additional recoveries and 21 more deaths over the past 24 hours, marking the lowest single-day infections and fatalities in recent weeks, the Ministry of Health announced on Saturday.

This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections, recoveries and virus-related deaths in the Kingdom to 277,478, 237,548 and 2,887, respecitively. The active cases in the Kingdom now stand at 37,043 out of which 2,016 are in a critical condition.

According to the ministry, there were no cases of COVID-19 infection reported in the holy sites.

The highest infections were reported in Riyadh with 102 new cases, followed by Mecca city with 89 and Dammam with 72 cases.

The coronavirus recovery rate has exceeded 85.6 per cent for the first time in the Kingdom.

The ministry made it clear that only Riyadh has recorded more than 100 cases while the rest of cities and regions reported cases below the 100-mark, in yet another promising results of the its relentless work to contain the spread of the virus.
