Saudi Arabia reports 1,629 new COVID-19 cases, 26 deaths

Further 2,629 recoveries announced, recovery rate rises to 84.3 per cent

Dubai: Saudi Arabia on Thursday reported 1,629 new coronavirus cases, marking the kingdom’s lowest single day increase since last month. This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 274,219.

The Ministry of Health also announced 26 more deaths due to complications caused by COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, taking the country’s mortality tally to 2,816.

The new cases were detected after the ministry conducted more than 64,000 PCR tests over the past 24 hours.

The ministry revealed that 2,629 infected people have made full recovery from the virus, pushing the total number of recovered cases to 231,198, with the recovery rate rising to 84.3 per cent.

According to the ministry, there are 40,179 active cases out of which 2,044 are in a critical condition and under intensive care.

There were no cases reported in the holy sites, the ministry added.

Hofuf recorded the highest daily reported cases with 137 new infected people, followed by Riyadh with 114, and Al Mothnib with 71.
