Abu Dhabi: Saudi Arabia has been ranked among the top 10 countries in the world in digital skills, according to the Global Competitiveness Report 2020..

The report. World Economic Forum (WEF), attributed this progress to four factors — adoption of information and communication technology, flexible work arrangements, the national digital skills, and the legal digital framework.

The driving force behind this achievement included the launch of four academies to enhance digital skills (Saudi Digital Academy, Misk Academy, Twaiq Academy, and the National Academy for Information Technology), in addition to spreading knowledge and digital literacy through a number of initiatives including Digital Giving and Think Tech, which in turn contributed to reaching more than 15 million beneficiaries around the world, more than 70,000 young people, and more than 31,000 trainees in the Future Skills Initiative.

Saudi Arabia also won the International Prize for the Empowerment of Women by the International Telecommunication Union, for the launch of the digital skills framework based on the global skills and competency framework for a digital world (SFIA), which represents a unified language that links all efforts to frame, evaluate, employ and develop digital skills.

This global achievement confirms Saudi Arabia’s ability to adopt and explore technologies and the various digital strategies that enhance its digital transformation through the ambitious 2030 vision aimed at strengthening the Kingdom’s position as a regional digital hub.
