Cairo: Saudi Arabia has said it will continue distance learning for school and university students until the 10th week of the second semester as part of precautions against the spread of the coronavirus.

The Education Ministry said Wednesday night that a royal decree has been issued to continue the distance education at levels of public, university education in line with the mechanism followed since the start of the current school year to protect students’ safety.

Health protocols

“Studies in universities and Technical and Vocational Training Corporation institutes will be conducted remotely for theoretical courses and in person for practical and training courses while taking all precautions and health protocols that the Health Ministry has set,” the ministry said.

According to the remote education system, lessons are explained in Saudi Arabia via the Madrasty platform and a set of television channel linked to the Education Ministry.

In recent weeks, Saudi Arabia has seen a significant drop in COVID-19 infection rates amid stringent precautions against the highly contagious disease.
