COVID-19: Saudi Arabia announces 1,357 cases, 30 deaths

No coronavirus cases reported among pilgrims

Dubai: Saudi Arabia on Sunday reported 1,357 new coronavirus cases, the lowest single-day cases for months, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 278,835.

The Ministry of Health announced that 30 more people have died due to complications caused by COVID-19, taking the death tally to 2,917.

The ministry revealed that the recovery rate had risen to 86 per cent with 2,533 more infected people making full recovery from the virus, pushing the total recoveries to 240,081.

There are still 35,837 active cases, including 2,011 in critical condition in intensive care. The new cases were detected after the ministry conducted more than 36,666 PCR tests over the past 24 hours.

Mecca registered the highest daily reported cases with 1,153, followed by Riyadh with 94, and Jeddah with 72.

No coronavirus cases were reported among pilgrims.
