Dubai: Seven more people have died of COVID-19 in Qatar while 1,021 have been infected with the novel coronavirus, taking the tally of deaths in the country to 93 and the overall confirmed cases to 85,462, the Ministry of Public Health announced on Friday.

Meanwhile, 1,767 COVID-19 patients have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries in Qatar to 65,409.

The ministry also revealed that 11 patients have been admitted to the intensive care unit due to health complications resulting from infection, pushing the total number of critical cases receiving medical care in intensive care currently to 230 cases.

It stressed that the new cases had the virus transmitted to them from others who had been previously infected, as the Ministry of Public Health continues to conduct investigative and proactive testing, which contributes to early detection of cases.

The new confirmed cases have been placed under complete isolation across various medical facilities in the country, where they receive the necessary healthcare according to the health status of each case.

The ministry noted that the deceased were receiving medical care in intensive care and were people aged 77, 71, 69, 65, 64, 40 and 34 years.

The ministry stated that Qatar has now started to overcome the peak stage of the virus outbreak, thanks to the measures taken by the state to address it, in addition to the commitment of the community members to the recommendations and preventive instructions, the most important of which are social separation and staying at home.
