Cairo: Oman’s coast guard today arrested 27 Asians who had attempted to illegally enter the country, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) said, the latest in such foiled bids.

The infiltrators from different Asian nationalities were arrested aboard a smuggling boat off the beach of Al Sifah in the governorate of Muscat Wednesday at dawn, the ROP added.

“Legal procedures are being taken with them,” the police said in a tweet.

The ROP urged the public to offer more cooperation in countering crimes of smuggling and infiltration, and not to employ or shelter illegal migrants.

Last month, the ROP announced arresting a total of 91 infiltrators in two separate incidents off the state of Shinas in northern Oman.
