COVID-19: Kuwait reschedules burial timings due to total curfew
Cairo: Kuwaiti authorities have changed burial timings during a total curfew currently in force nationwide to contain the new coronavirus, local media reported Monday.
On Sunday, Kuwait started enforcing the 24-hour curfew running until May 30 to stem the spread of the highly contagious disease in the country.
Accordingly, the burial schedule has changed to become from 9 am (10.00 UAE time) until 4 pm, head of the Funeral Affairs Directorate Faisal Al Awadi said.
"This change comes out of the directorate's keenness to facilitate services and ease the situation on the families of the deceased and mourners upon recommendations of the Council of Ministers," he added in a press statement.
The nationwide curfew, including the Eid Al Fitr holiday, is the latest curb put in place in Kuwait after a spike in COVID-19 infections in the country.
Last month, Kuwait extended a nighttime curfew and lengthened its duration to run daily from 4 pm to 8 in the morning as part of other measures aimed at limiting the virus outbreak.
