COVID-19: Kuwait reports 487 new cases, 10 fatalities

Latest cases take total to 31,131 infections, 254 deaths

Cairo: Kuwait has confirmed 487 new cases of the novel coronavirus over the past 24 hours, taking the country's infection tally to 31,131, the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA reported Saturday.

The Health Ministry also announced 10 more deaths from COVID-19, raising the total such fatalities in the country to 254.

All the new cases were in touch with previously infected people or are being investigated for sources of infection, the Health Ministry's spokesman Dr Abdullah Al Sanad said in a daily update.

There are 180 patients receiving intensive care treatment, the official added.

The number of COVID-19 tests conducted so far in Kuwait has totalled 311,624, according to Dr Al Sanad.

The Health Ministry reported that 1005 more patients have recovered from the disease over the past 24 hours, bringing to 19,282 the total of such recoveries in the country.
