Sindh Rangers to work along with Karachi municipality to tackle fire emergencies

Karachi: A contingent of the top paramilitary force of Sindh has completed training in providing fire-fighting and emergency services in Karachi to rescue people whose lives become endangered due to frequent fire incidents.

The Urban Rescue and Safety Unit of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) imparted the four-week training of fire-fighting and rescue services to a contingent of Pakistan Rangers (Sindh). This was the first batch of Sindh Rangers to complete fire-fighting training, and more personnel will undergo similar training.

The officials of the Sindh Rangers have also given their nod to the proposal given by the KMC to launch a six-month physical training programme for the firefighters associated with Karachi’s Fire Brigade. The KMC also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Sindh Police to seek its services to carry out fire-fighting operations in the city.

Speaking on the occasion, Karachi’s Administrator, Laeeq Ahmed, hoped that the proposed physical training programme would help the fire-fighters of the city to remain physically and mentally alert to quickly respond to the fire emergencies to protect human lives and their belongings.

He said the collaboration between the KMC and Sindh Rangers would allow the personnel of the para-military force to operate as a quick response force along with fire-fighters to deal with the fire emergencies.
