Karachi: The Sindh government has concluded the largest recruitment drive for staffing colleges in the province.

The Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) conducted the recruitment examination of 100,000 candidates and selected the most qualified among them for 1,500 teaching posts.

A ceremony was held where Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, handed appointment letters to the candidates who secured the top 100 positions in the recruitment test.

Speaking at the ceremony, the CM appreciated that 1,500 newly recruited lecturers would start teaching at the government-run colleges from August this year after summer vacation. He said that after completing the process of hiring 1,500 lecturers the SPSC had started the drive to recruit another 1,600 teachers for the colleges. In the next stage, the Sindh government will hire 1,200 teachers possessing MPhil and PhD degrees for the colleges.

He said that the admission process and attendance records of both the teachers and students of the colleges had been made online.

The CM said that so far 43 digital libraries, whose reading material is available online, had been established in the colleges and their number would increase to 58 by the end of the current financial year.

He told the audience that the lecturers had been hired by his government for the colleges after hiring over 50,000 schoolteachers in the province under a meritorious recruitment campaign.

Shah said that his government had been acting upon the vision of late former prime minister Benazir Bhutto who as a native of Sindh always emphasised that the qualified youth of the province should get decent employment opportunities in accordance with their aptitude.

He advised the newly recruited lecturers to start teaching at the colleges with full devotion and the best use of their academic minds.
