COVID-19: Kuwait's partial curfew could be lifted by end of Ramadan

Kuwait City: The Supreme Ministerial COVID-19 emergency committee is scheduled to meet on Sunday to discuss the possibility of lifting the partial curfew by the end of Ramadan, local media reported.

The partial curfew was put in place on March 7 as Kuwait saw a spike in COVID-19 cases and deaths. Since the curfew, the number of cases have stayed the same with an average of 15 per cent positive cases to swabs conducted.

While the curfew will be lifted, it is likely that the government allows other restrictions to be lifted for those that are vaccinated.

Vaccine privileges

So far, the only those that are vaccinated are allowed to enter the cinemas, which are opening during the Eid Al Fitr holiday after being closed for over a year.

In the past two months, Kuwait has ramping up its vaccination efforts with around 1.4 million people receiving at least the first jab.
