Embassy urges UAE citizens to follow local safety guidelines during foggy conditions
Dubai: The UAE Embassy in Muscat has urged Emirati citizens in Oman to stay cautious due to expected low clouds and fog, especially on roads leading to Salalah Governorate.
Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority has issued a warning about fog and low clouds forming late Sunday night and early Monday morning over parts of the Sea of Oman coast and the South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta, and Dhofar governorates. These conditions may cause significantly reduced horizontal visibility.
The embassy urged citizens to follow local safety guidelines and register with the Tawajudi service. In case of emergencies, they can contact the UAE mission at 0097180024 or 0097180044444.
Fog and low clouds are expected to create hazardous driving conditions in these areas. Motorists should drive cautiously, reduce speed, and use headlights properly to ensure safety.
Staying informed through local weather updates and following instructions from traffic and safety authorities is strongly recommended.
On July 11, a tragic three-vehicle collision on Sultan Said bin Taimur Road near Maqshan in Oman’s Dhofar Governorate claimed five lives — two Omanis and three Emiratis — and injured 11 others, including five children.
Emergency services responded quickly, and an investigation into the crash is ongoing.
The UAE conducted a cross-border air ambulance operation to evacuate injured Emiratis to Sheikh Khalifa Hospital in Fujairah for further treatment.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended condolences to the families and urged citizens to strictly follow road safety laws, especially when driving abroad.
