Dubai: The UAE has carried out a cross-border air ambulance operation to evacuate Emirati citizens injured in a serious traffic accident in the Sultanate of Oman.
The mission, led by the National Search and Rescue Center at the UAE National Guard and coordinated with the Air Force and Air Defense Command, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the UAE Embassy in Muscat, transported the victims to Sheikh Khalifa Hospital in Fujairah for continued medical care after receiving initial treatment in Oman.
The crash resulted in multiple severe injuries and fatalities. UAE authorities lauded the quick and effective cooperation from Omani counterparts, who provided necessary support to the UAE diplomatic mission during the rescue.
In a joint statement, the National Guard and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended their condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to those injured. The Foreign Ministry also stressed the importance of adhering to road safety laws when traveling abroad, urging citizens to exercise caution, especially when driving overland.
